gone too long

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

It’s been too long… not that I’d forgotten about my blogging duties. It’s just that I was suddenly overwhelmed by my overwhelmedness which had been threatening like a summer storm,  finally burst  through the clouds and rained me in for a few weeks.

The truth is, I’ve been working on a secret project and it’s almost complete. It has involved 26 finished items in 6 months, one per week. Given that some needed re-knitting because I thought of ways of improving them, and a couple were completed only to find themselves on the cutting room floor, that’s a lot of knitting. I can’t think of a better way to spend six months.

So, with my deadline approaching, I had no time to write anything here. If you’re still reading, thank you for your patience.

So many projects requires a lot of different yarns, and above is a selection of what I’ve been using. I thought it would be fun to have a little competition, with a prize!

So, Dear Readers, try to name as many of the yarns above as you can, and the person who names the most will win one hank of Jade Sapphire 2-ply cashmere (400 yds!), to be mailed wherever you are in the world. I know, it’s hard to see them clearly in the photo, but if you read my posts, you could take an educated quess….

You can name a specific yarn, or a yarn company, but if it comes down to a tie, details will have the edge.

The competition will close  exactly 5 days from now.

I will contact the winner for a mailing address.

Go for it!

This made me smile the other day. A sweet little bird sitting on our garden chair, fluffing himself in the wind, unafraid of the concrete squirrel creeping up on him.
